Kurt's work with Niobium and Titanium began in 1984 at the California College of Art and Design in Oakland . During the 1980s' his focus was on producing fashion jewelry combining silver with niobium and titanium.  In the early 1990s' the work began to change from a jewelry format to producing large one - of - a - kind sculptures in vacuum - formed plastics and anodized refractory metals.
